A concrete pier recedes toward the horizon, its repeating supports and slender lamps set against a luminous band of gold. Softened water and faint figures on the walkway contrast with the textured sand and scattered seaweed in the foreground.
The story
I stood at the water’s edge, watching a small patch of gold gather beneath the pier. Above it, the railings drew a steady line through the shifting colors of the sky. People crossed the walkway, their forms becoming faint while the concrete remained firm. I wanted to hold that difference: the passing figures, the softened sea, and the ordinary seaweed at my feet, each marking time in its own way.
