A single violet water lily anchors a dense arrangement of patterned leaves and blue reflections. Seen from above, the pond reveals submerged stems, small bubbles, and curled leaf edges, bringing surface detail and underwater depth into the same frame.
The story
I looked down into the pond and found two views occupying the same space: blue reflected light above, tangled stems and shadows below. The lily stood between them, its violet petals distinct against the water. I framed it among the broad, mottled leaves, keeping their folds and ragged edges in view. What held my attention was the contrast between that open flower and the crowded, intricate life surrounding it.
