A pink water lily fills the foreground, its overlapping petals revealing pale, finely mottled surfaces and a glimpse of golden stamens. Selective focus softens the surrounding green and copper-colored pads, setting the flower’s angular forms against broad fields of color.
The story
I moved close enough for the flower to fill the frame, leaving the pond as a few quiet intervals between leaves. What held my attention was the pale grain within the pink petals, each one catching light a little differently. Behind them, green and copper spread into softer shapes. I wanted to keep that contrast: the precise unfolding of a single bloom against water and leaves that seemed almost to dissolve.
