An Intimate Flame

About this piece

Overlapping orange orchids fill the frame, their rounded petals set against deep green foliage. Selective focus reveals delicate surface textures and small imperfections, while a sweeping leaf anchors the composition below.

The story

I moved closer until the orange blossoms became almost the whole scene. At this distance, their color held my attention first, then the quieter details emerged: fine veins, folded centers, small marks along the petals. I kept the broad green leaf in the frame for its slow curve beneath the crowded flowers. What drew me was that balance—the exuberance of the blooms resting above something cool and steady.
