Where Green Radiates

Mike Gedj fills the frame with the radiating structure of a leaf, tracing luminous yellow-green veins through darker folds. Fine surface textures and broad sweeps of green bring botanical detail close to abstraction.

The story

I came close enough for the leaf to fill my view, leaving everything around it outside the frame. What held me was the meeting point of its veins, a small brightness from which every fold seemed to unfold. I followed those lines with the camera, noticing how the green shifted between pale sheen and deep shadow. For a moment, this single surface offered all the depth of a much larger landscape.
