Vivid red heliconia bracts form a sculptural rhythm against a luminous field of green and yellow. Shallow depth of field softens the surrounding foliage, while diagonal foreground stems interrupt the flower’s ascending silhouette.

The story

I found my frame in the contrast between sharp red edges and the soft green light around them. Each bract seemed to reach into a different pocket of brightness, making a small architecture within the foliage. I kept the crossing stems in view; they belong to the tangle that gives this flower its setting. For a moment, the garden became less a collection of plants than an arrangement of color, light, and space.
