Bands of gold and orange illuminate a cloud-filled sky, their reflections softening across the water. A wooden dock extends from the right, its repeated pilings and the gentle arc of white buoys lending structure to the expansive seascape.

The story

I framed the dock at the edge of the scene, leaving room for the light to spread. Across the water, orange gave way to muted green, while the pilings held their dark, measured line beneath the clouds. My eye kept returning to the small white buoys, a quiet curve leading outward. I wanted the photograph to hold that balance: the sky full of color, the water carrying it without commotion.
