Islands Of Green

About this piece
Broad, raised-rim lily pads spread across a reflective pond, with smaller mottled leaves and a white water lily in the foreground. Bright light intensifies the greens and reddish leaf margins, while palm fronds and cascading water fill the shaded background. The layered composition balances botanical abundance with the quiet intervals of open water.
The story
On this May day, light gathers along the upturned edges of the great floating leaves. Each holds a green expanse just above the pond, its reddish rim doubled in reflection. A white flower opens among copper-colored pads, a small bright center in the surrounding green. Behind it, water falls over rough rock, sending ripples through the reflected fronds.
