Mike Gedj frames a flamingo in profile, its luminous orange-pink plumage set against textured gray trunks and shaded greenery. The sweeping curve of its neck contrasts with the straight, slender legs, while layered feathers bring delicate detail to the bold silhouette.
The story
I was drawn first to the color, then to the way the neck curved between the trunks. Against the rough bark and tangled roots, every feather seemed softer, every shade of coral more distinct. I kept the long legs within the frame, letting them carry the eye down to the pale ground. What held me there was that contrast: a brilliant living shape surrounded by the muted textures of wood and earth.
