An orange flamingo extends its wings at the water’s edge, revealing black flight feathers against its sunlit plumage. The upright necks and slender legs of the surrounding flock create a repeated vertical rhythm, interrupted by the broad sweep of the foreground wings.
The story
I framed the flock where the pale ground met the water, drawn to the long necks rising against the shaded leaves. In front of me, one bird held its wings open, exposing a dark fan beneath the orange plumage. I let that gesture fill the frame while the others remained a softer gathering behind it. At the bottom of the image, the water carried their colors into wavering lines.
