A fishing pier extends diagonally into calm water, its dark supports and repeating lamps set against a luminous gold and orange sky. The low sun casts a broken column of light across the surface, balancing the pier’s strong geometry with the open horizon.
The story
I framed the pier from beside the water, leaving room for the sun and its wavering reflection. Along the railing, people stood watching or fishing, small figures against the broad wash of orange. A boat marked the distant horizon. What held my attention was the contrast: the measured intervals of posts and lamps, and the water refusing every straight line. I wanted the photograph to hold both kinds of rhythm.
