Fire Against Blue

About this piece
A gray bomber fills the frame against an uninterrupted blue sky, its pointed nose facing left and four engine exhausts glowing orange. Sunlight traces the upper fuselage and wing edges, while deep underside shadows emphasize the aircraft’s sculptural mass. Fine white vapor trails extend behind it, lending a sense of motion to the spare composition.
The story
On this January day, the sky offers no horizon, only blue space around the passing aircraft. Light slides along the gray fuselage and catches the sharp edges of the wings. Four orange circles burn beneath the tail, their warmth vivid against the surrounding coolness. Thin white trails linger behind, drawing out the moment after the aircraft moves on.
