A tightly framed palm leaf fills the photograph with radiating bands of luminous green and deep shadow. Fine veins and scattered blemishes interrupt the repeating folds, grounding the near-abstract composition in the texture of living foliage.
The story
I let the leaf fill my view until the world beyond it disappeared. Light passing through the green revealed a fine weave between the stronger lines of each fold. My eye followed those dark seams outward, then returned to the small marks scattered across the surface. I wanted to hold both things in the frame: the sweep of a fan opening and the quiet irregularities that made this leaf unlike any other.
