A sand-covered wooden walkway passes between dense dune grasses toward a narrow opening onto the sea. Weathered posts and rope rails draw the eye into the distance, while warm light catches the green and straw-colored blades beneath a pale, cloud-filled sky. The enclosed foreground gives way to an unoccupied horizon.

The story

August light rests on the rough posts and catches the fine edges of the grass. Sand gathers between the boards, softening the distinction between walkway and dune. The ropes follow the passage down toward a small expanse of gray-blue water. Beyond the shelter of the grasses, the sky opens, and the path has nothing more to contain.
