The story

August opens on a horizon washed in pale gold. Light passes through the smaller vessel’s sails, revealing a fine lattice of seams and rigging. Beside it, burgundy canvas holds deeper shadows above the figures gathered on deck. A motorboat breaks the measured rhythm with a bright burst of spray, while the open sky holds all three vessels in its quiet expanse.
