A red rose fills the left of the frame while a gerbera spreads its petals across the upper right, its textured green stem descending to the edge. Concentrated light intensifies the scarlet blooms and picks out golden details around the gerbera’s center, while deep shadows lend the close composition an intimate, dramatic stillness.
The story
On this May day, the flowers hold the light in two different ways. The rose gathers it into folds, each curved edge sheltering a darker red. Beside it, the gerbera opens outward, its small golden florets bright above the green stem. Beyond their petals, the background falls quiet, leaving color to fill the space.
