About this piece
Overlapping scarlet bracts fill the frame, their curved surfaces edged with pale pink light. Selective focus reveals fine texture in the central forms while surrounding layers soften into red and black, giving the composition a sculptural intensity.
The story
On this May day, light gathers along the curled edges of scarlet bracts. Each fold holds a different shade, from luminous coral to deep crimson. The dark background offers no horizon, only space around the rising forms. For a moment, the plant seems to contain all the warmth the eye can hold.
