A Garden in Glaze

About this piece
A ceramic frog covered in floral motifs occupies the foreground, its red-rimmed eyes and broad mouth framed by saturated blue, green, and yellow glaze. Strong sunlight creates brilliant reflections and deep shadows across the red wooden slats, while shallow focus softens the surrounding ceramics into a lively backdrop.
The story
On this March day, sunlight gathers on the frog’s glazed eyes and slips across its painted flowers. Blue petals spread over its shoulders, and orange blossoms fill its belly: a garden that needs neither soil nor rain. Behind it, other ceramic forms dissolve into patches of color and small circles of light. The frog sits motionless above the grain of the red wood, its broad mouth holding a quietly comic expression.
