About this piece

A timber mill and rust-colored waterwheel rise above a stream cascading over broad rock ledges, surrounded by autumn woodland. The story

Late October gathers in the canopy, turning the hillside gold and orange around the dark evergreens. Above the ledges, the mill holds its straight lines against a tangle of branches. Water slips over stone in pale curtains, collecting briefly in the dark pool below. Fallen leaves rest along the wet shelves, small points of warmth beside the continuing flow.
