A timber watermill rises above a rocky stream, its broad wheel framed by autumn foliage and evergreen branches. Sunlight warms the wooden siding and orange leaves, while the cascades below fall through deep shade. The vertical composition draws the eye from foreground boulders through ribbons of water to the mill nestled in the woods.

The story

Late October gathers in the canopy, turning the woods gold and copper around the mill. Light rests on the weathered boards and catches the wheel’s rust-colored rim. Below, the stream slips between boulders and spreads into pale curtains over dark ledges. Green branches reach across the view, holding their color against the season’s change. The water gives this quiet scene its continuing voice.
