About this piece

A deeply furrowed tree rises behind a mass of weathered wood, its twisting limbs spreading through green foliage and open sky. The low viewpoint emphasizes the trunk’s scale, while sunlight glancing through the lower branches traces warm edges across bark and leaves. Pale, flowing grain in the foreground anchors the intricate canopy above.

The story

Late November light finds a narrow opening between the trunks and shines through as a small golden point. Above it, leaves catch the warmth while bare twigs draw fine lines across the blue. The fallen wood fills the foreground with folds and hollows, its exposed grain resembling water held still. The eye follows those pale currents upward, into the dark trunk and the branching light.
