A fleet of sailboats spreads across blue-green water, its white, blue, red, and green sails set against a distant shoreline of low hills and buildings. Diffuse light softens the land while preserving the bright curves of the wind-filled canvas. The low placement of the boats beneath an expansive sky gives the composition an airy, measured rhythm.
The story
On this June day, the wind gives each sail a different shape. A green curve opens at the left, while red and blue gather into bright pockets farther across the water. Small figures lean along the hulls, attending to the pull of canvas and rope. Beyond them, the hills fade into haze, and the rippled water carries the fleet onward.
