A fleet of sailboats stretches across blue-green water, its white and brightly colored sails set against a distant, hilly shoreline. Diffuse light softens the land while red, green, and blue spinnakers punctuate the low band of boats. The expansive sky lends a spacious calm to the busy water.

The story

On this June day, the water breaks into small ridges beneath the boats. A red sail swells beside a blue one, and farther left, green fabric curves around an unseen breath of wind. Figures gather low along the decks, dwarfed by the sails above them. Beyond their passage, the hills fade into haze, while the broad sky holds its muted light.
