About this piece

A monumental orange rock arch spans the frame, enclosing a view of rounded cliffs and streaks of white cloud. Strong sunlight reveals layered textures and fractured surfaces, while deep shadow gathers beneath the arch’s right flank. The upward-looking composition balances the weight of stone with an opening of brilliant blue.

The story

September light fills the hollow, catching the edges of broken stone. Beneath the arch, shadow offers the eye a place to rest before it climbs the rippled rock again. Thin clouds stretch across the opening, their softness set against every ridge and fracture. The sky seems briefly held within the stone, yet remains the only thing without an edge.
