A weathered wooden wagon dominates the foreground, its red wheels and dark iron fittings sharply defined by direct sunlight. The story

September light settles across the wagon’s rough boards and faded red spokes. Its wheels stand still above soil marked by many passing feet. Beyond the fence, the eye travels onward to the sheer faces of distant buttes, where rust-colored stone gives way to shadow. The empty bench holds its place against the sky, overlooking a journey that now belongs to the gaze.
