The story

On this September day, the sky narrows to a blue passage between walls of folded stone. Light catches the high edges, tracing their uneven contours in gold while the recesses hold their purple shade. The eye follows one rippled seam upward, then another, until the rock gives way to open air. For a moment, the immense walls seem less like a barrier than a frame for the light.
