The story

On this September day, the sky appears as a bright opening held between folds of stone. Light touches the high edges, turning their layered surfaces amber and orange. Below, shadows gather in the hollows, and each ridge carries a fine pattern of lines. The eye follows these curves upward until the textured rock gives way to uninterrupted blue.
