About this piece

Mangrove branches and scattered leafy shoots emerge from luminous blue water, backed by a continuous band of vivid green foliage. Strong daylight sharpens the contrast between angular wood and open water, while reflections extend the branches into a delicate, wavering geometry. The broad horizontal composition gives this intricate wetland scene a spacious stillness.

The story

Late July light fills the gaps between the mangroves, leaving wide pools of blue around their roots. Bare limbs reach sideways just above the surface, each carrying a darker counterpart below. Small clusters of leaves interrupt the spare lines with bright green. A slight ripple loosens the reflections, and for a moment the branches seem less firmly attached to the world.
