Where Grass Holds Light

About this piece

Tall grasses with golden seed heads fill the foreground, where a wire fence crosses the slope above a broad plain and distant mountain ridges. Strong light from the right illuminates the green hills and softens the distance into blue haze, balancing intricate foreground textures with an expansive, quiet sky.

The story

Late November finds these slopes bright with green, their seed heads catching gold along their edges. A wire fence draws a modest boundary through the grass, while the view continues far beyond it. Rounded hills descend toward a plain whose details gradually dissolve in light. Above the distant ridges, a low band of cloud holds its shadow against the blue.
