The story

December finds the shore filled with gold. Between the palms, the low sun casts a bright flare across the white wall, and the bricks hold alternating bands of light and shade. Empty picnic tables and volleyball nets wait beyond the enclosure. The eye follows the wall’s curve toward the water, where the crowded lines of the foreground finally open into space.
