Blue Behind the Light

About this piece

A tall, blue-painted window punctuates a peach-colored stucco façade, its six panes clouded by dust and marked with graffiti. Strong sunlight reveals chipped paint, rough plaster, and exposed metal fittings, setting the dark glazing against a broad field of warm color. The close framing lends this worn architectural detail a quiet, almost abstract formality.

The story

Late July light falls hard against the wall, bringing every ridge of plaster into relief. The blue frame holds its six dark rectangles within the peach-colored surface. Across the dusty glass, handwritten marks interrupt the measured geometry. Small metal fittings cast sharp shadows beside and beneath the window, while whatever lies indoors remains out of sight.
