A Pause In Lavender

About this piece
A pale lavender door fills the vertical frame, its evenly spaced boards enclosed by an irregular whitewashed stone surround. Cool shade softens the painted surfaces, while sunlight catches the edge of the step below. The frontal composition balances the door’s measured geometry against chipped masonry and dark joints.
The story
July light reaches the step but leaves the door in cool, blue-tinted shade. The lavender boards hold their straight lines beside stones whose edges rise and break beneath the white paint. A narrow gleam rests on the metal handle. The door remains closed, and the eye lingers outside, following each small fracture in the surround.
