Where Light Waits

About this piece

Closed wooden shutters occupy a deep recess edged with reddish stone, their warm brown panels set against rough white plaster. Strong sunlight reveals cracks, worn surfaces, and exposed masonry, while shadow gathers beneath the lintel. The nearly centered composition gives this weathered architectural detail a quiet, self-contained presence.

The story

July light rests on the white wall, catching every ridge of plaster. Inside the recess, the wooden panels hold a softer brown, their grain interrupted by scratches and a small metal ring. Along the frame, patches of white give way to muted red stone. The shutters remain closed, and the eye lingers outside, following the narrow line where their edges meet.
