Clay Among Leaves

About this piece
A tall terracotta urn, encircled by patterned bands, stands before dark stone and dense, berry-bearing foliage. Strong directional sunlight reveals the clay’s weathered surface and the fine stems rising from its mouth, setting warm orange against deep green. The centered vessel gives this richly textured composition a quiet, sculptural weight.
The story
July light settles across the rounded clay, picking out each small indentation in its decorative bands. A vine slips over one handle and trails down the vessel’s side. Above the rim, slender grasses lift their seed heads against a tangle of leaves and blue berries. The stone behind remains dark, holding the shadows while the urn gathers the light.
