About this piece

A broad meadow of tall grasses opens toward conifers and towering rock faces beneath a saturated orange sky. Golden light catches the seed heads and treetops, while the close foreground and steep cliffs create a striking contrast of delicate texture and monumental scale.

The story

June draws to a close beneath a sky filled with amber light. In the meadow, slender stems rise from deep green shadow, their seed heads catching gold. Beyond them, the conifers repeat the upward reach of the cliffs in smaller, branching forms. The eye travels from a single blade of grass to the high edge of stone, and rests there.
