Sheer rock faces rise behind a meadow edged with conifers and broadleaf trees. A sunburst pierces the canopy at upper right, balancing the distant cliffs with the dark mass of a foreground trunk. Golden grasses and long shadows give the expansive landscape an atmosphere of warmth and repose.

The story

Late June lays a golden brightness across the meadow. Beneath the great tree, shade gathers around the roots and stretches over the grass. Sunlight slips between leaves, its sharp rays meeting the cool blue haze against the cliffs. A fallen limb rests at the meadow’s edge while the upright conifers draw the eye toward stone and open sky.
