About this piece

A river bends between sandy banks beneath dense conifers and a towering pale rock face. Strong sunlight illuminates the foliage and draws green reflections across the water, while fallen timber anchors the foreground. Small figures on the far bank lend scale to a landscape of imposing height and quiet enclosure.

The story

Late June light reaches into the forest, catching the needles and the pale edges of the riverbank. The water gathers their green into a softer, wavering canopy. Across the bend, small figures linger where the trees give way to sand. Fallen trunks lie at the water's edge, and above them all, the cliff holds its broad face to the sun.
