About this piece

A shallow river scattered with rounded stones reflects towering cliffs and a dense band of green woodland. Warm sunlight illuminates the rock faces and foliage, while foreground grasses and pools of deep blue reflection give the expansive valley an intimate, quiet threshold.

The story

Late June light fills the valley, resting on pale cliffs and catching the edges of leaves. Water threads between exposed stones, holding fragments of the heights in its quieter pools. Along the bank, long grasses lean over the reflections, their fine blades answering the vertical lines of the forest. The eye travels upward from these small green islands to the great walls of stone, then returns to the water.
