About this piece

Towering rock faces rise above a dense band of trees, their sunlit surfaces mirrored in the calm river below. Scattered stones and fallen branches interrupt the reflections, giving the foreground an intimate scale against the monumental valley walls. Warm light and saturated greens lend the balanced composition a luminous stillness.

The story

Late June light fills the valley, catching the pale cliffs and the green edges of leaves. Along the river, stones break the surface without breaking its quiet. The rock walls appear to descend into the water, enclosing a second expanse of blue. A fallen branch lies across their reflection, bringing the eye back to the near shore.
