The story

Late August gathers in gold across the water. Small figures line the bridge, their silhouettes barely rising above its railing. Below them, a sailboat’s slender mast draws a vertical line through the glow, while ripples loosen the reflections of the concrete piers. Between the two bridge sections, open sky meets open water, and the eye rests in the interruption.
