Where Pines Repeat

About this piece
Slender pines line a quiet body of water, their trunks and crowns repeated in reflections broken by faint ripples and foreground reeds. Bright light reveals vivid greens and warm bark, while the taller trees at right balance an expansive pale sky, giving the composition an open, measured calm.
The story
July light fills the spaces between the pine trunks, leaving each slender column distinct. Along the bank, grasses and fan-shaped leaves gather in a dense green fringe. The water holds a second forest, its downward-reaching trees wavering gently at the edges. Near the foreground reeds, reflection and living stem become difficult to separate.
