A green gecko rests along a diagonal orange-red edge, its finely textured scales and pale toes held in sharp focus. Broad fields of magenta and coral soften around it, setting the small reptile’s vivid coloration against an almost abstract arrangement of planes.
The story
I noticed the green first, a narrow interruption in the sweep of red and pink. Through the lens, the scene became smaller and more intricate: pale toes gripping the edge, tiny scales catching the light, a turquoise ring around a dark eye. I kept the frame close, letting the surroundings dissolve into color. For that moment, the whole photograph rested on the gecko’s quiet presence at the edge.
