November Holds Its Fire

About this piece

A tall deciduous tree rises at the edge of a grassy clearing, its exposed branches carrying scattered clusters of vivid red leaves. Photographed on November 2, 2019, the vertical composition follows the textured trunk into a pale sky, balancing intricate limbs against open space. Sunlight warms the grass beneath the subdued woodland, lending the scene a quiet autumn radiance.

The story

November leaves room between the leaves, and the tree's branching structure comes into view. Red gathers at the tips while the pale sky fills every opening. Below, sunlight spreads across the clearing in green and gold, meeting the long shadows beneath the trunk. The woodland stands close behind, but the branches reach outward over the open grass, holding their remaining color.
