The story

December finds the pasture green and the horizon washed in gold. Beneath the trees, a horse keeps its muzzle close to the grass, attending to a small patch of earth. Beyond its shoulders, the sea gathers the cooler colors of the sky. Clouds stretch across the open view, their dark undersides holding the warmth of the horizon in relief. The horse continues grazing, indifferent to the scale of the light.
