November Holds the Light

About this piece
A weathered wooden watermill stands beside a still pond, its wheel and elevated timber flume mirrored among reflections of the surrounding trees. Warm sunlight gilds the sparse autumn foliage and grassy banks, while a split-rail fence draws the eye inward from the lower right. The broad composition balances intricate woodland textures with the quiet clarity of the water.
The story
Early November leaves the branches partly bare, opening the woodland to warm light. Beside the pond, the mill's silvered boards take on a golden edge, and its dark wheel meets its reflection. Fallen leaves scatter across grass that still holds its green. The fence follows the stone path out of view, while the water gathers the trees into a second, silent woodland.
