Overlapping mountain slopes carry orange and gold foliage among bare branches and scattered green trees. Bright light warms the nearer forest while atmospheric haze softens successive ridges into pale blue. The wide composition balances the rising slope at right with an expansive sky, lending the landscape a spacious stillness.

The story

November begins with color still scattered across the mountainsides. Between the orange crowns, bare branches reveal the fine structure of the forest, while pockets of green hold their deeper shade. The eye follows one ridge beyond another, leaving the crisp foreground for the blue softness of distance. Here, autumn seems to loosen its hold a little at a time.
