A Harbour Between Hours

About this piece
A waterfront terrace overlooks rows of moored sailboats and motor yachts, enclosed by a pale stone breakwater. Bright daylight defines the wooden decking, empty café tables, and fine lattice of masts, while orange rowing boats bring concentrated colour to the subdued harbour. Horizontal bands of terrace, water, and sky give the busy marina a measured stillness.
The story
June light rests on the empty tables beside the water. Below the railing, orange boats sit close to shore, their open benches catching the sun. Across the basin, slender masts rise above the tightly gathered hulls, their reflections breaking into small ripples. A red buoy holds its bright note against the grey-green water. Beyond the breakwater, a narrow strip of sea leaves the harbour's sheltered geometry behind.
