About this piece
A silver helmet bearing a red winged horse rests on the rear bodywork of an open-top sports car, above a grille carrying a United States Marine Corps badge. Strong sunlight and blue reflections articulate the rounded metal surfaces, while red upholstery punctuates the composition. The close framing holds these details sharply against softly blurred vehicles and people.
The story
November sunlight gathers on the helmet and spills across the polished bodywork. Reflections of sky and branches stretch over the metal, bending with each curve. Beyond the windshield, people and parked cars dissolve into patches of shade and color. The red cockpit remains empty, and the small winged horse seems poised for a journey that has not yet begun.
