A Chorus of Floats

About this piece
Painted floats hang in overlapping strands, their yellow, orange, lavender, and blue surfaces interspersed with weathered brown blocks and knotted rope. Strong sunlight reveals pitted textures and casts crisp shadows, while shallow focus softens the repeating forms behind them. The close composition turns an assembly of suspended objects into a buoyant study of color and rhythm.
The story
On this March day, sunlight gathers on a yellow float and slips across its orange underside. Dark rope passes through the bright forms, holding each within a vertical rhythm. Behind them, lavender and turquoise soften into patches of color, while worn brown surfaces retain their cracks and rough edges. The calendar marks March 20, yet the palette seems to hold a small season of its own.
