Mike Gedj’s close-up photograph reveals the fine bristles and repeating seed structures of grasses in saturated gold, orange, and rust. Selective focus sets their delicate outlines against broad washes of turquoise and green, balancing botanical detail with luminous abstraction.
The story
I moved close enough for the grasses to fill the frame, letting the surroundings dissolve into color. What held my attention was the fine fringe around each seed head: so slight, yet bright enough to define every branching shape. I framed the sharper stems among softer gold forms, drawn to the contrast between their precise structure and the blur beyond. At this scale, an ordinary patch of grass became a place worth lingering.
